Aftermarket headlights vs restoring the originals

My headlights have yellowed and night visibility is poor. I'm torn between a proper restoration (sanding and clear-coating the existing lenses) versus swapping to aftermarket projector units. Restoration is cheap but may not last; aftermarket looks great but fitment and beam pattern can be hit or miss. Anyone done both and can compare the long-term results?

Restored mine with a proper UV clear coat at the end and it has held up over a year. Skip the clear coat and it yellows again in months.

Went aftermarket projectors and regret it slightly — the beam pattern scatters and blinds oncoming traffic. Fitment needed some fettling too.

If the originals are just yellowed and not cracked, restore them. Aftermarket only makes sense if the housing is actually damaged.
