Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 — still the default family sedan?

The Altis 1.6 remains Toyota's bread-and-butter sedan here: a 1.6L petrol paired with CVT or manual, cruise control, dual-zone climate on Grande, push-start and a 7-inch infotainment. It isn't the most exciting drive but resale, parts availability and ride comfort keep it on every shortlist. Is it still worth it against the newer crossovers?
