A slightly taller tyre profile genuinely helps absorb the hits. The low-profile look is nice until you crack an alloy in a pothole.

I replaced worn shocks and suddenly the same broken roads feel half as bad. Do not underestimate how much tired suspension makes it worse.

The underpass approaches in my area are a minefield after every rain. I have basically memorised which lane to take to avoid the craters.
